There are two types of sunscreens: one being mineral sunscreen, and the other being synthetic/chemical sunscreen.

While mineral sunscreen is much cleaner and safer compared to synthetic sunscreen, it only has two ingredients: zinc oxide and titanium dioxide in it.

Zinc oxide and titanium dioxide are less harmful to the skin, as they don’t easily get absorbed into one’s skin. Considering this factor, mineral sunscreen users are comfortable with applying mineral sunscreen on their skin.

What makes synthetic sunscreen bad for us is the number of different toxic chemicals it contains that are easily absorbed into the skin. Synthetic sunscreens have toxic ingredients that are incredibly concerning such as oxybenzone, octinoxate, octisalate, and avobenzone.

There are more concerning ingredients such as the ingredient oxybenzone. This ingredient has been associated with hormone disruption by various different research that has been conducted.

Mineral sunscreen vs Chemical sunscreen

Final tip, when shopping for sunscreen shop for mineral sunscreen with non-nano titanium dioxide or non-nano zinc oxide.
